"You're a tiny Shrimp, eat food to grow bigger!"

The Shrimp is a tier 1 Ocean animal in Mope.io, and is equivalent to the Mouse, Chipmunk and the Desert Rat. It was first added on November 22, 2016.

Technical[]

Appearance[]

This animal is one of the simplest and smallest animals in the game – only freshly-upgraded Rabbits, Trout, and Arctic Hares are slightly smaller.

Shrimp (S2)[]

The "Season 2" Shrimp skin has a darker orange body in contrast to its predecessor skins, with three small legs and one larger leg on each side of its body. It has two long feelers that point upwards, two large black eyes, and a grooved tail that is purely aesthetic (the tail-biting function does not apply to the Shrimp).

Gold Trim[]

The Gold Trim Shrimp looks like the 1st "#GoldenAge" era Shrimp skin, aside from being entirely golden, with some parts having darker tones. It has larger eyes than the regular skin, a feature that the newest removed Shrimp skin had.

Deluxe Shrimp[]

The Deluxe Shrimp is a Shrimp with a tuxedo. It has larger eyes, and instead of feelers it has a mustache. Its legs and pincers are thinner and smaller.

Chef Shrimp[]

The Chef Shrimp's torso is covered with a chef's attire. It also has a chef's hat, and is shown cooking over a grill, with one kebab in each pincer. It also has eyes that are slightly cut out from the bottom, which implies shyness/happiness. It is a reddish-orange color and has shorter 'feelers'.

Shrimp (2nd #GoldenAge)[]

The 2nd "#GoldenAge" era Shrimp, which was in-game from around April 2020 until January 31, 2022, has a base color of orange and features several embellishments, including its image-only tail, and slightly darker orange stripes. It has three small legs on each side, and 'feelers' on its face that branch off to the left/right.

Shrimp (1st #GoldenAge)[]

The first "#GoldenAge" era Shrimp, in-game from December 23, 2019 until circa April 2020, is an almost replica of the 2nd #GoldenAge skin, except its eyes are slightly smaller.

Zombie Shrimp[]

The Zombie Shrimp has an appearance similar to the Classic Shrimp. However, it is markedly distinct by its zombie-like features; the two scars near its tail and one beneath its bared red eyes.

Winter Skin[]

The Winter skin of the Shrimp is identical to the Classic Shrimp skin, except that the Winter Shrimp has a dark purple scarf wrapped around it.

Classic Skin[]

The Classic Shrimp has a simple design – its body is orange, and it has striped tail that curves backwards, and two large black eyes.

Strategy[]

As a Shrimp[]

  • The first reccommended course of action is to find and use a Healing Stone; purple stones that will increase the player's XP. Once found, it will take a matter of seconds to reach the next tier.
    • While plankton bushes also provide XP, the amount is minimal and temporary compared to Healing Stones. However, if a clump of plankton is nearby, by all means eat it.
  • Another strategy is to follow a Shark. Trail alongside it until it uses its Jaw Bite power-up on another creature. The excess meat that comes from the animal being bitten will instantly level the player up, potentially past Squid level (tier 5) depending on how much meat one eats.
  • An additional option is to look for a big animal outlined with red that will likely not care about eating Shrimps (Squid, etc.). Bite their tail by diving and striking at the right time, ideally while they are occupied with something else. Be wary, however; your target might end up wanting to chase after you for revenge.
    • If the player's passive Sprint ability is activated, use the speed to the player's advantage by biting a predator while moving fast.
    • Be on the watch for a Squid's ink, because if someone bites the tail of a Squid whose ability is fully charged up, they can squirt out ink and stun the biter.
  • Be alert for Trout, Crabs, Sea-horses, and even Squid hiding in a Plankton Bush or near a Healing Stone.
    • Fortunately, predators beyond Trout and the occasional Rabbit are not too much of an issue, since most larger predators consider it trivial to chase after low-XP animals such as the Shrimp. Despite this, the player must not be too reckless around predators.

Against a Shrimp[]

  • Being a tier 1 animal, it is pointless as a predator of the Shrimp to chase after it when there are many other easier sources of XP, i.e. food.
  • If the player were to try and kill a Shrimp, they would have to utilize their animal's Special Ability. This is particularly important as the Shrimp's "Sprint when hurt" ability allows it to make a quick escape if bitten by a predator.
    • For instance, a Trout or Sea-horse could use its "Extra Boost" ability to speed up to the Shrimp and bite it again. The Shrimp has a weak Health Bar and can be taken out in three bites if it can be caught.
  • If the player sees a beached Shrimp and there are no Ocean- or Land-dwelling predators nearby, the player should take the opportunity to block the Shrimp from re-entering the Ocean and eat it. However, this occurrence is fairly uncommon.
  • Non-Ocean predators will have a hard time killing a Shrimp in water, as the Shrimp's Passive Ability combined with its agility in water will make it almost impossible for dry land-based predators to have a chance.
    • However, the Pigeon could potentially kill a Shrimp by using its "Fly" ability to catch up to the Shrimp and continously land on it from above. The Pig also has somewhat adequate movement speed in water and with its "Stink" ability could trap and kill a Shrimp. Aside from these predators, no other animals should exert their time into trying to kill a Shrimp.
