UPGRADED to Swordfish!
(Press W to rush with your sharp nose!)

The Swordfish is a tier 10 Ocean animal in Mope.io, and is equivalent to the Bear, Tiger, Wolf, Gobi Bear, Hyena and Pelican.

Technical[]

Appearance[]

The Swordfish has a long blue body with a needle-shaped nose. Its two fins are curved and look much like a real swordfish. Its dorsal fin is also needle-like. The Swordfish's tail is dark blue, the same color as its fins.

Gold-Trimmed Swordfish[]

The Gold-Trimmed Swordfish has an almost identical appearance as the regular Swordfish, but is set apart by its gold-tipped nose, tail, and the fins on its side and head.

Surfboardfish[]

The Surfboardfish is a long surfboard with thick wavy lines gradienting from orange to gray. It has three black silhouettes of palm trees, 4 v-shaped birds in various sizes, and a vibrant yellow sun at the center of the Animal with radiant sunbeams. The Surfboardfish has a line down the center of its body and two orange rounded fins to the side.

Old/Legacy Swordfish[]

The old Swordfish is a blue circle(a bluer color of the old Shark) with a darker blue triangle on its head and two ovals as fins. It has another oval as its tail, and a triangle protruding out of its front. It looks downwards instead of upwards.

Strategy[]

As a Swordfish[]

Press W to Charge. Like the Rhino and Muskox, the Swordfish can charge very fast, but it has a little more maneuverability, which is very helpful at times. When chasing prey, use your charge ability to catch up to them. However, if prey dives, you still have less space between you and your prey and do it again when they are above water. Snails are easy XP. Only around 3 are needed to level up. When a snail hides in its shell, your ability's damage quantity isn't affected by it. Therefore, it's faster to use it on them after biting the snail a few times.

Be especially careful when using your charge ability against a Kraken to bite its tail. The Kraken could end up using their ability to pull you in, and could use your lack-of-ability to turn against you, making you free lunch. Don't charge at it. Instead, tail-bite it (optional) and run away. If you get caught in its whirlpool, use it to escape.

However, you can still use your charge ability to bite animals like the Dragon and the Black Dragon. To do this, go into a whirlpool and when a Dragon, Black Dragon or other high-tiered animals get closer get out of the whirlpool and charge! You have time to run away as well when it's stunned. You can also troll is you see a ocean predator near the shore, use your ability to push them back and try making them die of dehydration, so you can get loads of XP.

Against a Swordfish[]

As prey to the Swordfish, don't attempt to try to overlook the charge attack by purposely taking it as if you can avoid it. When the Swordfish starts to charge at you which you can tell by the changed visuals and the sudden burst of speed, dive immediately. If properly timed, you can avoid the Swordfish, and use the diving air to retreat to a Whirlpool. Pufferfishes are a very likely target to Swordfishes. They have lower health than other alternatives such as the Stingray, and provide lots of XP. If you see a Swordfish charging towards you, quickly dive if you can. Otherwise, squeeze between a gap the Swordfish may not be able to get through, or go to a nearby hiding hole. Worst-case scenario, if you're a Pufferfish/Stingray and can't dive, use your ability on the Swordfish. The Stingray's ability will stop the charge, but a Puffer can still take damage. Take advantage of the stunning from either animal's ability to flee.

As a predator of it, also try diving before a Swordfish charges into you. Since they can't dive until the ability ends, you can use yours to try eat it. If you can't dive for whatever reason, make sure you face the Swordfish as it charges. That way, it will also take damage from directly facing you. Be aware that if you're on extremely low health, Swordfishes can eat you. Their charge does inflict a little damage on predators, so to be safe, dive if on low health.

Trivia[]

  • In the update with the T-REX, the Swordfish can charge at its own species and predators.
  • When it was first implemented to the game, the position of the Swordfish's charge would be locked into whatever position the player was in when they clicked W. This effect was changed on November 15, 2018.
