Team Mode Chart In-game 2022

The pie chart that represents the three teams in Team Mode.

Team Mode, is a game mode in Mope.io wherein players are allocated to one of three teams and must try to dominate the server by "capturing" the special Team Stones that appear around the map. The more Stones a team captures, the more powerful that team becomes by gaining perks and buffs.

The mode was originally added on October 6, 2018 and removed a month later on November 23. On August 29, 2022, Team Mode was added back with new features such as the meteor apocalypse and additional new perks from different Team Stones.

Technical[]

Current (2022–present)[]

Minimap-Team Mode Example

The minimap in Team Mode (2022), representing multiple Team Stones. The Team Stones that have color have been captured.

The current version of Team Mode was introduced on August 29, 2022. Thus, it is called "2022 Team Mode" due to its distinct features compared to the older version of the game mode that was introduced in 2018.

  • The goal of Team Mode is to acquire the highest player-count out of all teams in the server.
  • In the current Team Mode, there are three teams; Yellow, Cyan, and Purple. The team that each player will be in when they join the game is randomized.
    • A pie chart at the top right-hand corner of the player's screen represents roughly the number of players per team.
  • Players cannot kill other players that are in the same team as them. For example, Cyan players cannot kill other Cyan players, and instead will be able to move through each other like Apex animals can. The player's team will be represented by a solid outline that is the same color as the player's team.
  • The player's fellow teammates appear as multiple dots on the minimap, colored with the respective team color.

Team Stone[]

Stone Promo

A Team Stone that has been captured by the Purple Team. It has the "Coin Boost" perk.

  • Players can "capture" Team Stones for their team, which appear as large crystal rocks. Team Stones work similarly to the normal Healing Stone, except they are bigger, immobile, and only provide XP once captured.
    • A captured Team Stone will turn yellow if it is captured by a Yellow player, Cyan if a Cyan player captures it, and purple if a Purple player captures it.
    • Uncaptured Stones, or neutralized Stones, have a large Health Bar that can be reduced in order to capture the Stone. By using a Team Stone in the same way that one uses a Healing Stone, the Team Stone's Health Bar can gradually be reduced, though the process goes faster if more players simultaneously work to capture the Stone.
    • An uncaptured Team Stone will appear as a large white dot with a messy outline (distinguished from the player beacon) on the minimap, changing color when captured to the color of whichever team captured it.
    • Team Stones that have been captured by another team can be damaged by an opposing team. However, the capturing process for pre-captured Team Stones will need to be repeated twice, as once a captured Stone is neutralized, it will become gray and will then need to be captured by the new team.
  • When a Team Stone is in the process of being captured, the crystals will flash whichever color the capturing player's team is.

Perks[]

Buff-13

The image of the "Decreased ability recharge" perk, that appears in the middle of a Team Stone.

  • A feature of Team Stones is perks, or buffs; when captured, all players of one Team will receive a buff of some sort that makes them more powerful.
  • Each individual Team Stone has a different perk, which is represented by an icon in the middle of the stone.
  • If a Team Stone is neutralized, the perk associated with that Team Stone will instantly wear off until the Stone is re-captured.
  • There are 13 different perks, which apply to all members of the player's team. They are as follows:
    • XP boost – food that is consumed provides 20% more XP.
    • Kill XP boost – the XP gained from killing players from enemy teams increases by 40%.
    • Coins boost – each minute under the effect of this perk rewards players with 5 coins.
    • Increased damage towards prey – prey of the player receives 50% more damage when being attacked.
    • Increased damage towards predators – predators of the player receive 25% more damage when being attacked by the player (e.g. via Special Abilities).
    • Increased dive duration – the dive duration underwater or in lava is longer.
    • Decreased body damage – enemy team attacks do 40% less damage.
    • Increased movement speed – movement speed is 25% faster.
    • Increased dependency – the water, lava or energy bar gains double capacity.
    • Immunity to burn – burn damage, e.g. lava, no longer affects team members
    • Immunity to poison – poison no longer affects team members.
    • Decreased stun – the stun effect wears off 25% faster.
    • Decrease ability rechargeSpecial Abilities recharge 25% faster.

Apocalypse[]

Meteor Promo

A Dragon in the Apocalypse phase of Team Mode. A meteor is flying above it, and a lava pool from a crashed meteor is next to it.

  • When a team captures 10 stones, the Apocalypse phase of Team Mode will be triggered, causing multiple events which wear off when the apocalypse ends:
    • A meteor shower will begin, causing meteors to fall from the sky onto the ground and potentially players, directly killing all animals below tier 15. A meteor that has impacted with the ground will leave a crater, along with a lava puddle.
    • Players will lose water, lava, energy and air 25% faster than usual (if the player's team has the "Increased Dependency" perk, this will be canceled out).
    • Team Stones will not be capable of being neutralized or reset.
    • Food sources will become inedible.
  • At the beginning of the Apocalypse, the Team that causes it will receive 100 coins. At the end, they will get an additional 200 coins if they survive, and the enemy team survivors will gain 100 coins.

Old (2018)[]

The first version of Team Mode was accessible from October 6 – November 23, 2018. Thus, it is called "2018 Team Mode" in comparison to the most recent version.

  • Like its successor, the 2018 Team Mode comprised of the three teams of Yellow, Cyan and Purple, the player-count being displayed on a pie graph. The aim was also to remain the dominant team by capturing as many Team Stones as possible.
  • Players could not kill other players that were in the same team, but the predator-prey system still existed; predators could deal minuscule damage to prey, but still inflicting the ordinary knockback and loss of XP.
  • The only perk that existed in the 2018 Team Mode was a 33% XP boost for each Stone that was captured.
  • At the time that the old Team Mode was created, the Desert and Forest biomes were not yet released. The only biomes in the game mode at the time were Land, Ocean, Arctic and Volcano.

Strategy[]

  • For the most part, Team Mode works like the normal game, with the main difference being the teams, Team Stones and apocalypse event.
  • The player's team is represented at the pie chart on the top right-hand corner of the screen, and will be highlighted.
  • In order to be the largest team and ensure that the other enemy teams do not increase in number, the player and their team should capture Team Stones in order to gain the perks and become stronger.
    • Team Stones appear on the map as dots with a squiggly black border – unclaimed stones will be white, while stones that are either cyan, purple or yellow have been claimed by the team that has a corresponding color.
    • The player can work by themselves to capture a Team Stone, but it is more tedious and dangerous when done alone. The player would be better off by taking advantage of their team members and getting another teammate to help speed up the process, and provide security against enemy teams.
    • When the player and their teammates capture a stone, moving on to the next one will be prudent. However, if numbers allow it, one or two teammates should stay behind to guard the captured stone so that an enemy team will be able to easily neutralize and capture it for themselves.
  • The strategy for claiming Team Stones should be repeated, in order to capture 10 stones. Then, the apocalypse phase will begin.
    • Once the meteor apocalypse starts, surviving is essentially a matter of luck. Staying in large numbers might be a good idea, as that way other players may have a chance of taking the impact of a direct meteor hit. If a meteor hits the player head-on, it will likely kill them if they are below tier 15.
    • No matter what team the player is in, it would be a good idea to capture a Team Stone that has the "Increased dependency" perk, as this will cancel out the apocalypse-induced effect of players losing water, lava and energy 25% faster.
  • When the apocalypse phase ends, if it ever began, the player can continuously repeat the above processes. Remember that survivors of the apocalypse gain at least 100 coins.
